NYCosmos – Cuba
June, Tuesday the 2nd,
La Habana, Estadio Pedro Marrero
The New York Cosmos are the first professional US team facing a Cuban National Team since 1978.
Neither the Cosmos (2nd league in Us soccer) or Cuba national team are famous for their way of playing, but this match was something more than playing good football. A mediatic unfreezing match in a rainy day for a friendly match. Cuban supporters, who payed 1$ to attend the historical match, were ready to suffer, and most of them expected the bad end (they lost 1-4), shouting all match long: “Raul!”, “Raul!”, the Cosmos star, not the Cuban President.
